This probably sounds overwhelming. It is a lot to think about. It is not, however, as daunting of a process as you’d think. Let’s start with your personality. Creating your brand’s personality is much like developing a character for a book or a game. You need to decide what you’ll sound like, look like, act like, and how you will respond to events. This will give you a guideline on how all the materials should look, sound, feel, and fit together.
Compile a list of 5 things that represent how you want your company to represent itself. For example:
Expert – Knowledgeable, Current in field related news, well trained
Funny – Sarcastic, clean humor, entertaining
Reliable – Consistent, can be depending on without question, accurate
Honest – Transparent, sincere, trustworthy
Relatable – identifiable, recognizable, involved
With these lists you can easily create unique and identifiable materials for your company. By making sure that whatever you create matches these items your brand will maintain a clear personality. Customers and potential customers will be able to easily and clearly identify you and what you do for them. Your personality is now established and you’re ready to take the next step in branding your company.
