when you break up there are all of these connections that keep bringing your ex into your space. You see photos of the two of you, past status updates and, if you have mutual friends, you’ll see some of their new posts. Even if you block them, the photos and status updates of the past remain. It can be like a little knife in your heart any moment of the day.
Facebook is working on making this easier on everyone. They started testing new tools that will pop up when you change your relationship status. You won’t even have to block them, which can lead to social awkwardness. These tools will allow you to remove your ex’s posts from your newsfeed, limit your status updates that they can see and even helps you by untagging photos of the two of you from the past.
“We’re starting to test these tools today in the U.S. on mobile, and we’ll make changes and roll them out further based on people’s feedback,” Facebook product manager Kelly Winters wrote. “This work is part of our ongoing effort to develop resources for people who may be going through difficult moments in their lives.” She continues with, “We hope these tools will help people end relationships on Facebook with greater ease, comfort and sense of control.” All in all, it’ll make the break up a little easier to get through. |
