But I digress… I believe that it is time to start taking the word “accountability” seriously again. More importantly the phrase “personal accountability.” As much as people feel safer saying things that they never would in person through the anonymity of a screen individuals need to stop responding and then blaming the world around them.
It is NOT social media’s fault that these individuals did these things or said these things. It is their fault. They made the conscious decision to be cruel. They decided to form opinions without all the facts and make attacking judgmental statements. In the example of the father – his daughter’s illness had absolutely NOTHING to do with her ear piercing. Nothing. So, what do you get out of attacking him?
Stop blaming social media.
